Italian Blueprints: Three transferable approaches for the anti-trafficking sector

Topic(s): Identification, Referrals

This report presents three transferable approaches from Italy’s anti-trafficking response: a
national multilingual helpline embedded in the NRM; Dedalus’ combination of physical and
digital street outreach; and IRC’s mobile outreach project for early detection and referral in
asylum reception settings. Drawing on current data, practical experience, and a case example,
the article shows how trust-based, person-centered outreach can help identify people at risk
and connect them with specialised support. Concise blueprints translate these lessons into
concrete steps for practitioners and organisations seeking to strengthen protection systems in
other contexts.
