About Us
Who we are
The Anti-Trafficking Team at the International Rescue Committee brings more than 20 years of experience in implementing programs to combat human trafficking.
Since 2003, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has been a lead agency in combatting human trafficking. The IRC utilizes a multi-pronged approach that includes engaging survivors, communities and key stakeholders; strengthening systems to better prevent human trafficking and protect victims; and providing comprehensive services to survivors. To keep pace with constantly changing methods used by traffickers, the IRC works in local jurisdictions to improve coordination and information sharing between key actors and respond effectively through innovative approaches, including the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence.

The Anti-Trafficking Response website serves as an online hub—a one-stop resource center offering curated tools and materials developed by the IRC and trusted partners. It provides practitioners resources, educational materials and training modules, on the fundamentals, and the complexities of human trafficking, while also addressing the growing dual role of technology in building a response combating human trafficking; and facilitating exploitation mechanisms simultaneously
This project focuses on two critical priorities: (1) deepening understanding of how traffickers misuse technology and emerging tools, including artificial intelligence, to commit and conceal crimes; and (2) strengthening the ability of anti-trafficking practitioners to leverage technology and AI to prevent, detect, and respond more effectively. By combining long-standing expertise with innovative approaches, the project aims to advance the global fight against trafficking in an increasingly digital world.
Our work is guided by human rights values and a firm belief that no form of human trafficking has a place in our societies. We partner with stakeholders, practitioners, experts with life experience and leading experts to gain a comprehensive understanding of human trafficking, including in the digital world — from its root causes to effective strategies for promoting justice and recovery. With this knowledge, we aim at equipping the anti-trafficking field with the tools needed to drive meaningful and lasting change for victims and survivors.
