Cross-border collaboration on anti-trafficking: lessons learned in Transnational Referrals and outlook on the EU Migration Pact
Trafficking in Human Beings is a transnational phenomenon, and victims often face repeated risks and psychological strain when crossing borders and retelling their traumatic experiences. To ensure timely and trauma-informed support, strong cross-border cooperation between organisations and institutions is essential. This webinar explores what effective transnational referrals can look like in practice. Drawing on insights from the EU project TIATAS (Transnational Initiative Against Human Trafficking in the Context of Asylum Systems), implemented by partners in Italy, Spain, Germany, and Greece, we will present tools, shared procedures, and referral pathways developed to support victims of trafficking within asylum systems and to prevent re-victimisation during movements between EU countries. We will also discuss the upcoming EU Migration and Asylum Pact and its implications for secondary movements and the impact it will have on transnational referral mechanisms. Together, we will reflect on what changes may arise and which strategies are needed to ensure that survivors and victims rights are protected.
